Head for the hills, stroll through a small town, wade a river, or visit a farm this Saturday – both ordinary and extraordinary scenes will be featured as ‘slices of Mountain State life’ on September 15, 2012.
If you have a digital camera, you can take part in the celebration of West Virginia’s 150th anniversary by taking a shot of your own West Virginia scenery and contributing it (up to 5 photos) to Wonderful West Virginia magazine as candidates for publication in a special issue to be published in June 2013, the month of the state sesquicentennial.
The theme for the statewide photo shoot is ‘A Day in the Life of West Virginia’ and all photos must be taken within the state borders, between dawn and twilight. You can see rules and specifics at the website for the magazine, www.WonderfulWV.com.
The picture above was taken by Judy Olsen, here in Shepherdstown, and used for our own 250th celebration of the town charter this year in 2012. I can’t wait to see what she shoots on Saturday!
