We are taking a brief respite from the Inn this week and attending the PAII (Professional Association of Innkeepers International) conference in Charleston, SC. We took the opportunity to visit our friends Shellie and Tony in Rocky Mount, VA on the way down, and used our free day today to tour Magnolia Plantation and Gardens here in North Charleston. It’s pretty chilly here, but we had a nice tour of the house – still owned by the Drayton family – and took a nice walk around the gardens. Only a few extremely hardy flowers are out, although the camellias will be arriving in full soon. Here’s a photo – I think the gardens would be lovely in the spring. The spanish moss and the firethorn berries look very striking in the winter.
