It seems that spring has finally arrived, and with it the beginning of bicycling season. I have posted about bicycling here before, in regards to through-bicyclists traveling along the C&O Canal Path just on the other side of the Potomac River from Shepherdstown. A recent article in the Shepherd University Picket reminded me that there are a variety of routes that can be done as day trips from Shepherdstown as well.
From road biking around Antietam Battlefield to rugged mountain biking near Boonsboro, MD – there is a day trip suited for both the casual bikers out to enjoy the scenery and the more serious cyclists training for an upcoming event. Pictured above are the bike racks secured in the back yard of the Inn; please note that they are outside and we do ask that your bikes remain outside during your stay. We have a tarp available for coverage if needed. Once you’re done with your cycling trip, you can walk to any of a dozen fine restaurants, shops and our local movie theater from the Inn. Other than getting here, you won’t need your car at all!
