Our farmers market is in full swing – every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The street behind the library (that interesting little white building on German Street that sits in the middle of the street, with traffic passing on either side) is closed off. By this time of the year most of the block contains vendors on each side – Peace of Cake for baked goods (I serve Amy’s Grandma’s Sour Cream coffee cake here at the Inn), Tudor Farms for asparagus, Rohrer’s Meats (who supply our bacon), Ridgefield Farms for cantalopes and apple pies, Megan for fresh-cut flowers and a new baker (sorry, I forget her name) who made the lovely brioche in the photo. There is often music at the market and, sometimes, spontaneous dancing! Be sure to leave time in your schedule and room in your car to take home some great stuff from the market.
Next month some of the vendors come for a second day, Wednesday, and set up at the Valley Bank parking lot – I’m really happy when I can get some fresh fruits and veggies mid-week during the summer. Perfect for our mid-week guests.
